My first occupational therapy hero

My first occupational therapy hero

Diana Henry was my first occupational therapy hero.
More than a few decades ago in OT school, I can remember sensory integration being introduced in a guest lecture by a TA. It wasn’t part of the core curriculum. And it was presented by the professor as something outside of mainstream occupational therapy.

Diana’s work and the opportunity to learn from her changed everything I thought I knew about sensory integration. Thank goodness for my clients! Diana brings her message to the world with her husband Rick via ateachabout.

Diana was the first OT who explained sensory processing in a way that my clients, parents of children on my caseload and teachers understood. She has my #ThursdayThanks forever.
